The Queensland Wind Orchestra (QWO) is a high-standard community ensemble of approximately 45 musicians, and Queensland's leading community wind orchestra. Members are university students and graduates, music teachers and professionals from non-musical fields who share a desire to develop their ensemble musicianship in a challenging and dynamic environment.
The QWO was conceived in 2004 as an initiative of young musicians who sought to contribute to QLD’s cultural community by creating an ensemble in which exceptional instrumentalists might find an outlet for their abilities. Now in its 10th year (including two years as National Champions), the QWO continues to perform an annual concert series comprising an exciting range of repertoire with some of QLD’s finest conductors.
The Management Committee
The QWO is a non-for-profit incorporated association managed by an elected committee comprising performing members of the orchestra. The Committee is responsible for day-to-day operations as well as the overarching management of the orchestra itself.
