Philip Davis

Currently, Mr. Davis is currently Head of Performance Music at Redlands College; director of ensembles, musicals and brass teacher at the college. He is a Queensland AMEB Senior Examiner in Brass.

Mr Davis held a principal position playing trombone in the Elizabethan Melbourne for 17 years and he has had over 40 years experience as a professional player with all ABC orchestras, the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, other professional orchestras, musicals and other commercial work.  He has held lecturing and directing positions at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and other universities and schools for approximately 25 years.

He previously held the post of Music Director of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra (Redland Sinfonia) and the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and has been a guest conductor of the Queensland Wind Orchestra on four occasions.

Mr Davis regularly travels to Singapore as Music Advisor and Conductor of the Dunman High School Symphonic Band and the Sembawang Wind Orchestra.  Mr. Davis has adjudicated at many competitions, eisteddfodau and festivals in Australia.

Personal interests include reading, walking, travel, conducting and playing in community and in other chamber music activities for charity.
